Style

The style we teach is a creative, dynamic, and intelligent flow which can be easily adapted to different levels and different tempos. The philosophy is based on the ‘8 Limb Path’ of Patangli and the asana practice is inspired by the Ashtanga system of Pattabhi Jois, linking poses together with the breath through the flow of Sun Salutations. Over 100 poses will be covered in-depth during the training with special attention to anatomical sequencing and skillful assists. At the end of the training you will be fully qualified to teach Vinyasa Flow Yoga and its variations such as Power Flow or Core Flow, as well as various levels of Hatha Yoga Interdisciplinary classes.

About the Thailand Yoga Teacher Training

This three week intensive Yoga Teacher Training is an exceptionally high quality, fully comprehensive profoundly life transforming experience. It is passionately and skillfully led by Jennifer Yarro and Alicia Waters within the guidelines of Frog Lotus Yoga given by the founder, Vidya Heisel.

Jennifer Yarro, E-RYT 500, is a practitioner and teacher of AcroYoga, Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Meridian Yoga, and Thai Yoga Massage. She is the owner and director of Frog Lotus Yoga in the United States and the founder of the Triple Gem School of Thai Massage. She teaches, trains, and certifies students internationally for 200hr Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga, 300hr Advanced Yoga Trainings, and up to 500hr for Thai Yoga Massage.

Jennifer has developed a devoted following because of her unique teaching style which blends the wisdom of Hatha Yoga, vigorous Vinyasa, cleansing Kundalini, and a deep understanding of the physical and energetic body. Her lively classes bring a fresh awareness to timeless principles of the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya.

Jennifer loves to study anatomy and intelligently offers classes that support skeletal alignment and muscular engagement, that builds strength, skill, and fluidity to support one’s personal practice. In addition, Jennifer’s personal meditation practice, extensive training in group facilitation, and continual commitment for self-growth fuels the depth and energetics of the group experience. Lastly, her practice of structural bodywork and Thai Yoga Massage for over 10 years influences her love for teaching ‘Hands-On Adjustments for Yoga Asana’ which will be an integral part of the training.

Jennifer’s compassion and willingness to hold space for growth in every student has made her an accessible mentor and friend to the hundreds of yoga teachers she has trained. She has been teaching Yoga full time for over 12 years and running 3-4 week residential trainings for the past 6 years.

Alicia Waters, E-RYT 500, is currently residing in the lovely seaside town of Mousehole in southwest England, she leads local classes as well as international retreats and trainings. She has been teaching yoga since 2010 and has been studying and practicing avidly since 2005. She completed a 200 hour foundation training and a 300 hour advanced training in Vinyasa Yoga, both with Vidya Heisel and Jennifer Yarro of Frog Lotus Yoga. Any teacher must also be a life-long student, and Alicia has continued her studies with additional training in mantra, anatomy, philosophy, and more with such modern yoga luminaries as Sianna Sherman, Shiva Rea, Amy Ippoliti, Tiffany Cruikshank, Anandra George, and Jim Tarran.

Since the beginning of her teaching career, Alicia has had the great privilege of sharing yoga with diverse students in studios, universities, spas, and community centers all over the globe. Originally from the East Coast of the US, she spent two years living and teaching at Suryalila Yoga Retreat Center in southern Spain before moving to Cornwall in February 2015. She has traveled extensively with Frog Lotus Yoga Teacher Training Programs as faculty instructor.

Alicia is known among her students for her clear instruction and joyful, encouraging demeanor. She is also certified in Thai Yoga Massage, which brings confidence and compassion to her physical adjustments. Her recipe for a great yoga class is to combine intelligent sequencing and consistent focus on the breath, then add total self-acceptance, a bit of inspiration, a dash of sweat, and a healthy dollop of humor.

What qualifies you for this training?

A minimum of one year’s regular yoga practice and reasonable competence is required to qualify for this Yoga Teacher Training Course. You are also required to be in good health, physically and mentally.

During the yoga training, all students are expected to eat plant-based-vegetarian diet and abstain from alcohol, smoking, and other drugs.

Except in cases of extreme illness or family crisis, students must attend all sessions and fully participate in all practicums, exams, etc. in order to receive a certificate. In cases where absence is unavoidable, the missed time will need to be made up during the training time. If more than three sessions are missed, the student may not be certified.

These guidelines are for the benefit and safety of the entire group. By applying for this course, you signal that you understand and comply with these requirements. Any physical or mental conditions that may adversely affect your participation must be communicated with the staff ahead of time.

Excursions

During the training there will be two afternoons a week free as well as one full day to go on excursions, spend time on the beach, or just enjoy exploring the island. We will be offering some different optional excursions for the breaks. The excursions will be offered at an additional cost.

How to get there

Koh Samui is easily reached via an increasing number of direct international flights and over a dozen daily 1-hour flights from Bangkok. Arrive easily with a direct flight from any Asian hub on Bangkok Airways. If you’re traveling on a budget, and feeling brave, you can also reach the island via ferry from the mainland Thai city of Surat Thani. Be sure to check ferry times as the schedules are sometimes limited. Vikasa is just a fifteen minute drive from the Samui Airport. One can either simply hire a taxi at the airport or the center can arrange for a taxi at an additional cost.

Visas

Citizens of most countries can enter Thailand for up to 30 days without a special visa. If you are planning to stay longer, or aren’t sure if your country is eligible for a free visa on arrival, check with your local Thai embassy.
